New Criterion to Identify Dementia in Higher Educated Seniors
(Source: AMA) - The most commonly used screening test for cognitive dysfunction is the mini-mental state examination (MMSE). A score of 24 (or less), out of a possible 30, identifies individuals with dementia. However, persons who have had 16 years or more of education may score as high as 27, yet still have cognitive dysfunction.
